Sleeping Beauty

I put a movie on for Cal in my room tonight. Patti was asking to go to bed, but Daddy wasn't home yet, so I was trying to keep her up a little longer (we played dress up). I went to heat up food for Daniel and when I returned to check on the kids, this is what I saw. Precious. But, that's not the best part.... Cal looked over at me and then pointed to Patti and whispered, "She's Sleeping Beauty." Melt my heart.

What's wrong with looking like a mom?

I'm playing with Patti's hair... she just got out of the tub. I've twisted it up on her head and put a clip in it.... she studied it in the mirror and said, "I don't like it... it looks terrible (don't know where she learned that big word)... it looks like a mom!"

I posted a couple weeks back about The Wims Family. I just received the following email (below) and wanted to share with any of you who would be willing to help. God is good and I know that many will respond and this family will be taken care of.... but more importantly, they will be reminded of God's love and strength through others.

Dear Friends,

Brad Wims courageously fought the battle against the cancer that caused such pain and damage in his body for over two years. Each day was a victory and a blessing of grace for we are never promised tomorrow. Even as the doctors’ prognosis was grim, Brad persevered with God as his strength. He was an incredible example of faithfulness and trust in God even in the most trying of circumstances. Many people have expressed a desire to help ease the situation for Jenny, Zeke and Kaelyn. We find ourselves asking, “What more can I do in addition to prayer?”
Although many would think that Brad’s primary burden was his physical health, those that know him well say that more than anything else, his main concern centered on his wife and children. Brad felt responsible for the provision of their financial, spiritual and emotional needs. Since Brad faced an uncertain future, the financial strain weighed heavy on his mind. Because of this, we have decided to set up a fund to collect donations from anyone who would like to make sure his family is taken care of regardless of their situation.

Our goal is to raise $120,000 to be used toward this effort. This would allow Jenny to pay off the mortgage of their house and provide much needed income during this difficult time. The elders of the A&M Church of Christ in College Station and the Southeast Church of Christ in Friendswood (Brad and Jenny’s home church) are graciously providing direction, encouragement and the necessary arrangements to make the collection for these funds convenient. Because of the blessings God showers down upon all of us, we believe this is an attainable goal. We invite you to reflect on the abundant blessings you have received from God and join others in the grace of giving to this much needed cause.

There are two ways to donate:

Send a check to either of the churches listed below. Please write “Wims Family” on the memo line to designate your funds and help with bookkeeping.

You will be prompted to press the Give button. You will advance to the payment information screen where you will need to complete the information to give through Visa, MasterCard, or ACH (electronic check).

Please share this letter with anyone else you know who would want to be a part of this special project. Ten dollars, one hundred dollars, one thousand dollars, or a penny a week...whatever you can give, know that it will bring relief in a time when it matters so much!
Much love and excitement for how God will change us all through this project,

Feeling Blessed!

Time flies when you're having fun! I am now about 33 1/2 weeks.... and feeling every bit of it! This little guy is active! If that's any indication of how he will be outside the womb, I'm in trouble! The house is just about ready for his arrival. If you know me well, you know that I am super-obsessive about having everything "just right." It's annoying.... even to me! But, we are almost there! A few things left to do, but I've got time.

The kids are also ready for their brother's arrival.... but, not quite as ready as they are for their birthday to be here. They turn 4 in just a few weeks and want a "Spiderman" party and a "Darbie" (Barbie) party. Little do they know that we aren't having a big party for them. I'm doing a little party with their classmates and then just family. I'm too big and pregnant to stress out about a party right now (we are so blessed to have so many friends that we'd have over 30 kids to invite) .... I think as long as they have cake and a few people to sing Happy Birthday to them, they'll be happy.

Of course I have to post some pictures to keep Grams happy (even though she'll be here tomorrow). By the way, I'm really frustrated.... my camera has been taking terrible pictures. Maybe it's because it's handled by a couple of 3 yr olds. I can't just blame them though... I toss it in my purse, the car, etc. and am not really gentle with it. Only every 3rd picture is in focus. There were lots of cuter pictures, but these were the only ones that are in focus. I think it's time to invest in another one... ugh!

They had Pajama Day at school the other day.... Patti had a hard time understanding why she was wearing her pjs to school.

The bed was made.... until Cal decided to wrap himself up in the sheets. The stinker even pulled the fitted sheet off. Let's just say, Mommy was NOT happy (but I did have to take a picture).

Sweet Patti loves to garden... she helped me plant some flowers that we bought from her school.

The time change was an adjustment....

The grass is growing at Paw Paw's....

Daddy's little girl...

When Mommy's away, the children play

I left the house for about an hour and a half yesterday evening. I put Daniel in charge... and I come home to this.... (Daniel is encouraging them to jump higher each time and teaching Cal different ways to "tuck" his legs)

My kids have major attitude problems this morning.... funny thing, so do I. Hmmm.

Cal was tired of me not using his real name .... so, he let me know it.

Cal (sorry, Calloway) : "Momma! My name is NOT "silly," it's not "goofy" and it is NOT "sugar".... it's just CALLOWAY!"

Riding on the Gramsmobile

My mom just emailed me this picture. We have game cameras at each feeder on our ranch. They are triggered by motion. Isn't this a cute picture of Grams taking the twins for a ride on the "Gramsmobile?"

Growing up

My babies aren't babies anymore! Last night was their first night in their "big" beds, upstairs and in separate rooms. They have shared a womb and room for over 4 years. I would have totally kept them downstairs only yards away from our room until they went off to college, but I need that room back to get ready for this new little guy. Their rooms have been ready for weeks, but I have just put it off as long as I could. And, they did great!!! My wonderful husband has been getting up with them in the middle of the night (sometimes 3-5 times a night) without any hesitation, sigh or grumble. Isn't he great? So, last night we both prayed that the kids would sleep well and that he wouldn't be trekking up the stairs all night long. Patti had to potty about 3 am and Cal about 4:30 am. After taking Cal, Daniel just stayed up and drank 3 cups of coffee because he was wide awake. Yay... I can finally get the nursery all ready and then maybe I can relax and enjoy the rest of this pregnancy with my feet up :)

For those who don't know the story....

Brad Wims lost his fight against cancer yesterday. He was my age with two small children. I never knew Brad personally, but remember seeing him at church when he was in the AFC. He was a dear friend to many of my dear friends. I followed his story through a blog his wife, Jenny, kept. Through it all, this family held strong to their Loving Father... never losing sight of Him, never questioning Him, never ceasing to believe in Him and His Power and Glory. Amazing faith. Jenny just posted on her blog moments ago..... click here to read her precious words. Please pray for this family...
