Potty training update

Other than going a little nutty after being stuck at home for several days, things are going surprisingly well. By the end of Day 2, they were going completely on their own without having to be taken every 10 minutes (with only one or two small accidents). But, #2 was a no-show for that day. So, I was worried about #2 making a big appearance on Day 3. To my surprise, Patti went all on her own that morning (it freaked her out though and I found her crying on the potty not knowing what to do.... but, we made a really big deal out of it and she was so proud). That evening, it was Cal's turn.... total and complete panic. He didn't want to go in the potty or in his pants..... I'll spare you all the details. Anyway, they were going every few minutes on their own (Daniel timed how many times Patti went in 20 minutes.... 12 times). Now (Day 4), they go less often, but so far no accidents. Yay.

Our next real test is going out into the real world. I'm a little nervous about taking two potty-training children out in public.... no, I am VERY nervous about taking two potty-training children out in public. Tomorrow is Sunday and that will be our big test. Luckily, I teach across the hall from C and P's class in case they have an accident. We'll probably be sitting in the very back during service. Wish us luck!

Potty Training Stinks!

So, I finally decided to get these kids potty trained. I have been meaning to for a while now, but the time had to be just right. They have both showed some interest in it lately, so I knew that the time was soon. Since the weather's going to be ugly for a few days and we'll be stuck inside anyway, I thought today was the perfect day. Cal was going to be first (I didn't want to do both at the same time, so I was going to wait until Cal had the hang of it before I got Patti started)... but, after seeing Cal go on the potty and all the fuss I was making about it, she decided that she wanted in on the action (the My Little Pony panties were enticing too). So, I've got both going every 10 minutes and I'm already going a little coo-coo! We've had 9 accidents total (only one involving the brown stuff). I'm already washing a load of undies because we're running out of clean ones. And, this is only day one..... Calgon, Take me away!!!!!

8 Random Things About My Life.... by Cal

We've been tagged! Norah decided that she wanted to know a little more about Cal.... so, here goes....in his own words...

1. I have ants in my pants! Seriously... they crawl in right before I wake up in the morning and stay all day(despite dozens of diaper changes daily - no, I don't wear big-boy-undies.... but, I will next week.... my Mommy is so ExCiTeD!). They must crawl out some time after bath time because that's when I like to sit and cuddle with Mommy or Daddy.

2. My favorite words are "Come on!", "Hey MOM!?", "That/This way!", and "OH NO!"

3. I like to climb! My favorite thing to use as a "boost" is a Dora Sit and Spin that my Aunt Shelly bought me for my birthday..... oh wait - correction - it's Patti's...shhh....

4. I love to ride the 4-wheeler.... either my little John Deere one or the big one with Daddy! Maybe it's the wind through my hair or the rush I get when I go fast....I just love it!

5. I can run fast! I started to walk at 10 months and run at 10 1/2 months.... haven't slowed down yet! I'll race any of ya.... bring it on!

6. David Hasselhoff ain't got nothin' on me.... except maybe for a little more hair.

7. I'm cool.... waaay cool! Bet you didn't know that about me. Watch out Hollywood, here I come! If I'm not doing Jackie Chan's stunts, I'll be designing his wardrobe!

8. I am completely in touch with my masculinity! So what?!..... I like to look good.... pink is a good color for me!

This was fun.... I could have shared much more, but know that you've already fallen totally head-over-heals in love with me. Anything more would have been over-kill. Now, I'd like to tag

Santa's Wonderland

We went to Santa's Wonderland before Christmas with some friends (the Perkins Family, the McCarver Family, and half the Garner Family). We also went last year, but the kids were only one and a half - they loved to look at all the lights and loved the little town with all the bubbles and music. But, this year was a totally different experience. It was so much fun! To see their little faces light up and to hear all the excited comments about everything. Patti especially loved the Petting Zoo..... oooh yuck! Stinky, aggressive, crazy little animals everywhere. But, she loved it and was not afraid to stick out her hand full of food... with animals ready to attack. I'm serious, those things were ferocious~ like they haven't been fed in days. Cal on the other hand --- yes, my fearless and adventurous one --- was a scardy-cat! It was hilarious to hear his little screams when the animals would come near. Daniel tried to get him to feed them, but he'd wig-out! He was not letting go of Daniel. Patti on the other hand, was chasing them around forcing them to play with her. Loads of fun!

The Princess

So, if Patti is a Princess.... I guess I AM the Queen.

But, if Cal's a Princess too.... hmmm??
